It was no accident that Saul became Israel’s 1st king. A man who started out his day, chasing his dad’s lost donkeys ended up finding out that he was going to be the king before the sun went down. This was no accident. It was evident that God’s thumbprint was on his life. He was gifted for this; God called him to it, and other people could see it, but the problem so often for Saul is that he could not see it. As we dig into the text today, Saul arrived as the first king of Israel. Like Saul, we were made for so much more than just arrival. We don’t have to hide among our baggage or compare our gifts to others. When God’s Spirit rushes into our lives, he equips us to do what we are called to do.
