Scholars often call Deuteronomy the “Romans of the Old Testament” because of its foundational teachings on ethics, law, and grace. In this class, we will first explore how New Testament authors understood Deuteronomy—and the law as a whole—under the New Covenant. Then, we will turn our attention to understanding how Deuteronomy can help shape our worldview by studying the historical context, literary design, and wisdom of the book.
This lesson explores the biblical shift from viewing ourselves as owners of our money to stewards of God’s blessings, connecting Old Testament economic principles directly to Jesus’s teachings. Ultimately, we unpack the powerful truth that our vertical relationship with God is inseparable from how we practically love and serve our neighbors.
