We all know life is filled with good circumstances and bad circumstances. Yet, despite wherever we find ourselves….joy IN those circumstances is a pursuit. It’s not a gift to be delivered to our door every morning. Our circumstances are not the things that make us joyful. If we wait for the circumstances to get just right, we will never laugh again. Joy comes to those who are determined to pursue it despite their circumstances. In our text, Paul gives a perspective that we all need to pursue. Life is a daily choice of chains. We will either choose to chain ourselves to Christ and find joy, or chain ourselves to something else and find disappointment.
